I just talked to one of the English profs. It was just going to be me introducing myself to him, but it turned out to be very interesting(not that introductions aren't). He told me about an Honors class he's planning for American Literature/History. It will be an interdisciplinary course that covers 6 important times in American History that shaped what our nation is. The class will examine how we can learn about the times through literature and art.

Even cooler, the class project will be a forgery!!! The project will require the students to do things:

• Write a forgery of some literature thing as if it were from a particular period. Do not give it a date, but you can give it a random unknown author.

• Pretend that you found this previously-undiscovered piece of literature through weird means. Then write a literary analysis that states why you think it is from a particular period by a particular type of author.

This sounds like the coolest class since Theory of Knots 101 which is actually being offered. Maybe I'll take them both.
